Vive la France

No one loved France, and French food more than M.F.K. Fisher. Channel her soon with help from the beautiful website, The Kitchn. They've made a great list of 20 French Recipes to Cook This Weekend. There's stuff like French Onion Soup, Duck with Olives and Pot au Feu.

But who thinks of French cooking without thinking of something sweet to end the meal? I'm especially fond of cannele, which I actually like best as a mid-morning, late afternoon, or post dinner snack -- which is to say I'd eat one anytime.

I wrote a short piece about cannele last year for The Kitchen, and was so please that my photo of cannele, along the history of the small sweet cake and a recipe for making them, was at the top of The Kitchn's list.

Have you ever made cannele? If not, what's the most grandiose kitchen adventure, French or not, you've ever embarked undertaken?
